Ivan Hicks - longtime musician grateful to receive "New artist of the Year" nomination.

Hicks earned the nod for his CD "Connections" which was recorded at Prime Time Recording Studio, Sussex, NB and released last May. "Connections" features Ivan performing with Tony McManus, Scotland; Raymond McLain, Nashville; and local artists Terry Poirier, Gary Morris and Ivan's wife, Vivian. This Riverview, NB fiddler has 55 years of performance and many recordings and awards under his belt. It is not surprising therefore that 'Best Newcomer' nomination from the East Coast Music Awards caught Hicks slightly off guard! However, this seasoned performer does fit neatly into the ECMA category established "for artists who have never been nominated for any ECMA award in any prior year". The East Coast Music Awards will be handed out in Charlottetown, PEI on Sunday, February 11th, 2001. Good luck and best wishes to all the nominees.
